When discussing artists who use the digital material from popular culture in their work, Nam June Paik must be discussed. Emerging in the Fluxus movement his works utliziled the sounds and images from a digitized world.

The More the Better, (1988) Three channel video installation with 1,003

monitors and steel structure; color, sound; approx. 60 ft. high.

Electronic Superhighway: Continental US (1995). Forty seven channel and closed circuit video

installation with 313 monitors, neon, and steel structure; color, sound, approx. 15x32x4 feet.

Again I love the idea of these obsolete pieces of technology being recycled for art.

"Elise Morin (artist) and Clémence Eliard (architect) of SMALL MEDIUM LARGE -SML - design studio, in collaboration with the 104.fr have collected, sorted and hand-sewn 65,000 CDs and turned them into rolling hills of shiny aluminium that command the space of the Centquatre at the Halle d’Aubervilliers in Paris, a building which has been refurbished by atelier Novembre: Marc Iseppi & Jacques Pajot."
